Published in 1996, this book updates the information in Gertrude
Fischer's. Marcia Schlehr is also a long standing breeder and
judge of Goldens with both national and international recognition.
She is devoted herself to the study and illustration of the
breed standard and provides an enlightening chapter on that
topic. Schlehr's book includes more detailed information on
breeding, genetic concerns, and grooming. Although there are
fewer illustrations than in the Fischer book, and the information
presented is similar, THE NEW GOLDEN RETRIEVER is a valuable
addition to one's bookshelf.
