Knowledge of any dog breed standard is essential because it is the official blueprint that defines the ideal characteristics, purpose and temperament of a specific breed. For Golden Retrievers, too, the standard is more than a cosmetic guideline, since adhering to the guideline preserves the heritage our dual-purpose breed.
